Privacy Policy
The short version
- Dual Recorder records video and photos on your iPhone. Your recordings never leave your device unless you save or share them yourself.
- There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking in the app.
- The app asks for three permissions: Camera, Microphone and Photos (add only). Each is explained below.
- In-app purchases are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details.
- Questions? Email support@evokey.tech.
1. Who we are
Dual Recorder: Dual Camera ("Dual Recorder", the "App") is developed and published by EVOLUTION KEY FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ("Evolution Key", "we", "us" or "our"). We are the data controller for any personal information described in this policy.
You can reach us at support@evokey.tech.
2. What this policy covers
This policy explains what information the App accesses on your iPhone, what is stored, what (if anything) is shared, and the choices you have. It applies to the App as distributed through the Apple App Store and to any support conversation you have with us about the App.
It does not cover Apple's own services (the App Store, Apple ID, iCloud, Photos), which are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
3. Device permissions we ask for
iOS asks for your permission before the App can use certain hardware or data. The App requests only the permissions below, only when the related feature needs them, and each one can be changed at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security.
| Permission | Why the App needs it | When it is requested | What happens to the data |
|---|---|---|---|
| Camera | To show the live preview and record video and photos from one or two cameras at the same time (front + back, or wide + ultra-wide). | The first time you open the camera screen. | Camera frames are composited and encoded on your device. Nothing is uploaded. |
| Microphone | To record audio together with your videos. | The first time you start a recording. | Audio is written into your video file on your device only. Nothing is uploaded. |
| Photos – Add Photos Only | To save the videos, photos and Live Photos you choose to export into your Photos library. | The first time you save or export something to Photos. | The App only adds items to your library. It does not read, browse or modify your existing photos or videos. On iOS 14 and later we specifically request "Add Photos Only" access. |
If you decline a permission, the related feature will not work, and the App will show an "Open Settings" shortcut so you can change your choice. The App does not request access to your location, contacts, calendar, health data, Bluetooth, local network, or the advertising identifier (IDFA), and it does not use App Tracking Transparency because it does not track you.
4. Information stored on your device
The following information is created by the App and stored only in the App's private storage on your iPhone. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.
- Your recordings. Videos, photos and Live Photo clips you capture are kept in the App's library until you delete them or export them to Photos.
- Capture details. A small description of how each item was shot (mode, resolution, frame rate, picture-in-picture layout) so the library and editor can display it.
- Teleprompter scripts. Text you paste into the teleprompter, plus your speed, size and opacity settings.
- Settings and preferences. Resolution, frame rate, file format, timer, grid, mirror, language and notification preferences, and your onboarding answers (for example, which capture mode to open first).
- A local support identifier. On first launch the App generates a random 20-character "User ID" and shows it in Settings. It is created on your device, is not linked to your name, Apple ID or any account, and the App never transmits it. Its only purpose is to let you quote it in a support email if we ask for it to help troubleshoot. Deleting the App deletes it.
Depending on your iOS backup settings, the App's data may be included in your encrypted iCloud or computer backups. Those backups are controlled by you and Apple, not by us.
5. Information we do not collect
To be explicit, the App does not:
- require or offer an account, sign-in or registration;
- collect your name, email address, phone number or any contact information (unless you email us, see Support requests);
- include analytics, crash-reporting, advertising or attribution SDKs;
- show advertisements of any kind;
- upload, back up or stream your recordings, photos or scripts to any server;
- collect precise or approximate location;
- use cookies or similar tracking technologies;
- sell, rent or share personal information with data brokers or advertisers.
For this reason the App's privacy label on the App Store is "Data Not Collected".
6. In-app purchases
Dual Recorder is free to download and contains no advertising. Some features may be offered as optional in-app purchases. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store using your Apple ID. This means:
- We never receive or store your credit card number, bank details or billing address. Apple handles payment entirely.
- Apple provides the App with a signed receipt or transaction record so it can unlock what you bought and restore purchases on your other devices. This record contains transaction and product identifiers but does not identify you personally to us.
- Purchase history, refunds and subscription management (if any subscription is offered) are handled in your Apple ID settings and are subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and Apple's Privacy Policy.
7. Support requests
If you contact us at support@evokey.tech (including through the "Bug Report" and support links in Settings), we will receive your email address, the contents of your message and any attachments or details you choose to include, such as your device model, iOS version or the local support identifier described above.
We use this information only to respond to you, fix problems and improve the App. We keep support correspondence for as long as needed to resolve your request and to meet legal obligations, after which it is deleted. We do not add you to marketing lists.
8. Third-party services
The App does not embed any third-party analytics, advertising or social SDKs. The only third party involved in operating the App is Apple, which distributes the App, processes in-app purchases and provides the iOS frameworks (camera, microphone, Photos) that the App uses.
Some buttons in Settings open other apps on your device, for example your mail app to contact us, the App Store to see our other apps, or iOS Settings to change permissions. Once you leave the App, the privacy policy of that app or service applies.
9. Data retention and deletion
Because your data lives on your device, you are in control of it:
- Delete individual recordings from the App's library (single or multi-select).
- Delete exported items from the Photos app; the App keeps no copy of items you export unless they also remain in the App's library.
- Delete everything, including settings, scripts and the local support identifier, by deleting the App from your iPhone.
Support emails are retained as described in Support requests. You may ask us to delete them at any time.
10. Security
All processing happens on your device. Your recordings and settings are stored in the App's private sandbox, which iOS protects with the same device encryption and passcode or Face ID protection as the rest of your phone. Because no data is transmitted to us, there is no server-side copy of your content that could be exposed.
11. Children's privacy
The App is rated 4+ on the App Store and does not contain objectionable content, but it is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App collects no personal information, no such data is gathered even if a child uses it. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, or similar laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your personal information, to object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Because the App keeps your content on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly: view, export or delete your data inside the App or by deleting the App. For information you have sent us by email, write to support@evokey.tech and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
13. International users
The App works the same way in every country: your recordings and settings stay on your device and are not transferred across borders by us. If you email us, your message may be processed in the country where we or our email provider operate. By contacting us you understand that your correspondence will be handled there, with appropriate safeguards.
14. Changes to this policy
If we add a feature that changes how the App handles data (for example optional notifications or cloud backup), we will update this policy, change the date at the top, and where required ask for your permission inside the App before the new feature is used. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
